The tournament is divided into three stages – Play-In, Group Stage and Playoffs – where the first two stages will take place in an offline studio format.
Meanwhile, the final stage will take place at the Spodek Arena in Katowice, Poland in front of a live audience.
Format
The IEM Katowice 2023 will feature 24 participants consisting of a mix of qualified and invited teams. Out of these teams, only 16 teams will start out at the Play-In Stage. The other eight teams are already qualified to directly begin from the Group Stage. The opening Play-in stage matches will follow a best-of-one-series format, and only the top eight teams will progress into the Group Stage.
Group Stage
The group stage will feature the eight top eight teams from the play-in stage against the eight directly qualified teams. It will feature a 16-team bracket with the teams divided into two groups of eight teams each.
The group stage will follow a double-elimination format with every match featuring a best-of-three series. The top three teams from each of the groups will be qualified to move on to the Playoffs rounds.
From the six teams, the two winners from each group will directly gain entry into the semifinals. Meanwhile, the second and third-placed teams will move on to the quarterfinals, where they will compete for semifinals spots.
IEM Katowice invited and qualified teams
The IEM Katowice 2023 will feature 24 different invited and qualified teams. Out of these 24 teams, eight of the teams will directly compete from the Group Stage while the remaining 16 teams will start out from the Play-In Stage and fight for qualifications.

IEM Katowice 2023 schedule
The schedule for the IEM Katowice 2023 is divided into three distinct stages, Play-In, Group Stage, Playoffs. It will start from February 1 and go on until February 12.
Prize Pool
The upcoming IEM Katowice 2023 tournament will have a total prize pool of $1,000,000 USD. This staggering amount will be divided between all the 24 different based on their overall placement.
