Australia, who defeated England in the 2022 final in New Zealand, are the tournament’s defending champion. With seven titles under their belt, they are also the most successful team in the tournament’s history.
Pakistan will not play in India
The International Cricket Council (ICC) said Monday that when India hosts the women’s 50-over World Cup this year, all of Pakistan’s matches will take place in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka.
According to a December announcement by the sport’s international governing body, India and Pakistan, who have not played a bilateral series since 2013, would host ICC events in neutral locations.
“The venues for the knockouts are dependent on Pakistan qualifying as two alternative venues have been identified for one semi-final and the final,” the ICC said.
If Pakistan is eliminated early in the tournament, the ICC stated, Bengaluru, where the competition would begin with India playing in the opening match, will host the final on November 2 otherwise the final will be played in Columbo if Pakistan make it to the summit clash.
When Pakistan hosted the men’s Champions Trophy this year, India played all of their games including the championship game in Dubai.
