At about 5 a.m. on Friday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched raids around the nation in connection with the unlawful mining case. This action was done at 25 places affiliated with Jharkhand’s top IAS officer Pooja Singhal and numerous others.

During the raids, the investigating agency collected Rs 19.31 crore from Pooja Singhal’s apartment, according to news agency ANI. The cash was tallied by investigating police using a counting machine. However, the ED has yet to certify that the money has been received.

A chartered accountant adjacent to Singhal’s residence was also raided and some cash was taken. The officials loaded the cash and papers into buses late at night after packing them into multiple boxes. Meanwhile, Singhal’s father-in-law has been detained at her Madhubani, Bihar.

Who Is IAS Officer Pooja Singhal?
Pooja Singhal is a Jharkhand cadre senior IAS officer who is now serving as the state’s Secretary of Industries and Mines. She is also known for being the youngest IAS officer because she passed UPSC when she was just 21 years old with her from the 1999 batch. Presently, she was 44 years old.
On July 7, 1978, she was born. Her hometown is Dehradun, Uttarakhand. She did her MBA in Business Management from Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University. She has one brother named Sidharth Singhal.
Pooja Singhal married businessman Abhishek Jha after divorcing IAS officer Rahul Purwar. Currently, they both are living in Jharkhand.
Her career
Pooja was previously the Agriculture Secretary in the BJP administration. She was assigned to Khunti as a Deputy Collector even amid the infamous MNREGA scam.
She also served as the secretary in the department of tourism, arts, culture, sports and youth affairs in the Jharkhand government. In the same year, she was transferred to the industry, geology and mines departments of government.
This isn’t the first time Singhal has been accused of being corrupt. She has previously been accused of wrongdoing while working as deputy commissioner in the Khunti and Palamu districts.
In a subsequent development, searches were also performed at Pooja Singhal’s husband Abhishek’s home. Officials from the ED are looking into a hideaway near Abhishek’s Ratu Road home.
