“I was taking microdoses,” Derek Wolfe reveals he took mushrooms and Adderall before NFL games

The former star defender for the Broncos, Derek Wolfe has admitted to using mushrooms and Adderall both before and during NFL games

During a recent interview on “The Joe Rogan Experience,” former NFL defensive end Derek Wolfe revealed something unexpected. This comes shortly after using a bow and arrow to kill a mountain lion.

Before announcing his retirement in July of last year, Wolfe played eight seasons with the Denver Broncos (from 2012 to 2019) and two seasons with the Baltimore Ravens (from 2020 to 2021). Wolfe won’t have to worry about the NFL taking any action against him as a result of his admission to Rogan because his career is done.

Wolfe said on Rogan’s podcast that he had experimented with mushrooms before NFL games.

“Before games, I was taking microdoses. So I’m microdosed…I’m taking mushrooms and Adderall. Before I play…The focus is out of control. Before games, I would get myself pissed off…And it would get me in this rage mode. It was this crazy controlled rage.”

Wolfe received a four-game suspension from the NFL in 2015 for breaking their Drug policy. Wolfe claimed in a statement that he used a drug that he was unaware was prohibited by the league. Wolfe clarified that the drug wasn’t a PED by saying so.

During Peyton Manning’s tenure with the Broncos, Wolfe was a crucial cog in the defence (2012 to 2015). At Mile High City, a potent pass-rushing trio consisting of Wolfe, Von Miller, and DeMarcus Ware propelled the Broncos to four consecutive AFC West division titles.

Throughout his eight years with the Broncos, Wolfe has four seasons with at least 5.5 sacks, including a career-high seven in 2016. Wolfe contributed 2.5 sacks in three playoff games during the Broncos’ march to the Super Bowl 50, which helped the team win its third championship overall.

The 33-year-old Wolfe finished with 34 sacks, 17 pass defences, one interception, and three fumble recoveries in 122 regular season games throughout the course of his career.
