The former Christian Priest stated that his conversion to Islam was actually a “reversion to Islam” and that making the announcement felt “like a homecoming.” Before this, he had just announced plans to open an Eastern Christian Monastery in California.
“My firm belief is that it genuinely feels like coming home.” Fr. Hilarion Heagy, now known as Said Abdul Latif, wrote in a blog post that “we have worshipped and bowed to God alone since before we were even born. He cited a verse from the Holy Qur’an to support his assertion (7:172). This explains why Muslims who convert frequently refer to their return to Islam, our foundation faith, as a “reversion.” a protracted process of going back,” he wrote.
The Muslim community has welcomed the new member.
Said Abdul Latif was warmly welcomed by the Muslim community. Both in person and online, the Muslim community has welcomed him with the utmost warmth and hospitality which he has never experienced such hospitality, he wrote.
The blog post’s creator claimed that it was a devotion to the Prophet. He said he does not know what his future holds. Every time we venture into the unknown, we face some fears. Despite everything, he feels so at peace and a sense of relief he’d been lured to Islam for twenty years, and now he is back. Now, one can begin the process of developing their faith and educational commitment to the Deen and the Ummah
Why did he join Islam?
People from all over the world are contacting the former Christian priest via phone and sending notes, and the majority of them want to know why he decided to convert to Islam from Christianity.
“Because word of my adoption of Islam has now officially gone public, my mail inbox has been jammed full and my phone has been ringing off the line,” he wrote in another blog post. He also mentioned a few materials that, in his opinion, were very beneficial to him and helped him arrive at his current acceptance of Islam.
