Herbalife Joins MPL, Amul and JSW As Sponsors For India Ahead Of Tokyo Olympics 2020

Just a few days are left for the Tokyo Olympics to begin and and at the same time the India contingent has started getting a raft of sponsors and sponsorships

The Indian Olympic Association has appointed global nutrition company, Herbalife as its sponsor for India ahead of Tokyo Olympics 2021.

During a recent interview with Inside Sport, Rajeev Mehta, who is the Secretary General of IOA said, “We are really happy to tell you that, Herbalife, which is a Global Nutrition company has confirmed to be our sponsorship for for the Tokyo Olympics 2021 Rs 2.25 crore to the IOA.”

The IOA had earlier announced that the JSW had been appointed as a sponsor for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics games. This was decided just one day after when the IOA signed a sponsorship agreement with MPL Sports Foundation and became the principal sponsor. It would also be covering the Tokyo Olympics Games, 2022 Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games.

Narindra Batra, who is the IOA chief and Secretary Rajeev Mehta issued a statement, in which they mentioned that Parth Jindal, who is the CEO of JSW, has signed a partnership of Rs.1 crore with the governing body.

What did the officials say?

The statement issued by both of them read as, “We are happy to inform you about one more sponsorship offer which JSW confirmed for the Tokyo Olympics.”

Other sponsors for Tokyo Olympics bound Indian athletes

On the other hand, companies like Amul have also extended their support to the IOA for the Tokyo Olympics 2021. Amul is expected to pay Rs. 1 crore to IOA till December 31, 2021.

According to IOA, another sponsor MPL would be paying 8 crore to them and would also provide sports kit for the 2022 Asian Games and Commonwealth Games to the Indian Contingent.

The Tokyo Olympics 2021 is slated to begin on July 23 and will continue till August 8. The marquee event was supposed to be held last year but got postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
