“He Has Not Even Won An IPL,” Suresh Raina Extremely Critical Of Virat Kohli And His Captaincy

Suresh Raina minced no words as he questioned Virat Kohli and his lack of trophies in both the IPL and international arena

Whilst questions over Virat Kohli’s batting can’t be raised despite him enduring a dismal outing in the last couple of years owing to his illustrious international record, many have put his captaincy to the sword.

Persistently floundering as the captain of the Indian cricket team with him yet to win an ICC trophy for his country, Kohli was once again lambasted after India lost the WTC final to New Zealand. Completely outplayed by the Black Caps in Southampton, India collapsed like a house of cards to leave Kohli’s abject run going.

His drought is not only limited to the Indian team though. In years at the helm of the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kohli has yet to ever lift a trophy in the Indian Premier League.

This record has been drought up on manifold occasions with many demanding Rohit Sharma to take over from Virat Kohli. While it looks extremely unlikely to happen, its an argument which has gained steam ahead of the impending ICC T20 World Cup later this year.

Suresh Raina Questions Virat Kohli And His Lack Of IPL Titles

Speaking about Virat Kohli’s captaincy, Chennai Super King’s Suresh Raina agreed with the analysis. While he was overall positive about Virat’s tenure as a captain, Raina was quick to point out that Kohli’s barren run extended to both the IPL and ICC events.

You’re talking about an ICC trophy but he hasn’t even won an IPL yet. I feel that he needs to be given some time. There are 2-3 World Cups taking place one after the other – two T20 World Cups and then the 50-over World Cup,” Raina said.

Raina even addressed the moniker of chokers which has been handed to the Indian team off late but him refusing to agree with the public’s assessment.

“See, we are not chokers, because we already have the 1983 World Cup, 2007 T20 World Cup the then 50-over World Cup in 2011,” Raina said.

If Virat Kohli can actually silence his naysayers and get his haywire captaincy in order remains to be seen though. Celebrating wickets of bowlers by slandering the opposition and dancing when the camera spots you isn’t going to help the Indian team triumph on the biggest stage of them all.
