Despite retiring in 2020 after two full seasons of inactivity, Shazier successfully regained the use of his legs through rigorous rehabilitation. While his physical recovery progresses, his marital status faces uncertainty following revelations from his wife, Michelle Rodriguez.

Accusations

As reported by the MLFootball Twitter account, “WARNING: #Steelers legend Ryan Shazier’s wife Michelle Rodriguez has accused the former #NFL star, whose career ended due to paralysis, of ‘lying and cheating’ on her. She also shared texts from Ryan to another woman discussing ‘PROPERLY HAVING GREAT ANAL S*X.’’

For the unversed, Rodriguez reportedly exposed Shazier’s infidelity on her Instagram account, @mrs.shazier50, stating in a now-deleted post that “A person that loves his family… this is what they do to their family… the WIFE… that has been there for him since day 1! Infidelity at its finest! I can’t sit here and keep hiding anymore. You can have it. I deserve better. This is Ryan… he’s a liar and a cheater!”

The course of action Rodriguez plans to take after this revelation remains uncertain, but it is evident that this revelation poses a significant challenge to their four-year marriage.

Shazier and Rodriguez, who married on May 3, 2019, overcame odds, considering doctors had estimated only a 20 percent chance of him walking again. Shazier defied the odds through determined recovery efforts, including jogging and weightlifting after spinal stabilization surgery.

Couple’s Journey

The couple first connected In 2015 when Rodriguez, studying at Texas State University, liked a photo of Shazier’s son from a previous relationship, Ryan Dean. Initially navigating a long-distance relationship, Rodriguez eventually moved to Pittsburgh to be with Shazier.

They welcomed their son, Lyon Carter, in January 2019. Rodriguez’s Instagram bio reveals her association with Piatt Sotheby’s International Realty.

Despite being a first-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Shazier faced setbacks during his rookie season. His performance improved in subsequent years, earning Pro Bowl honors in 2016 and 2017.

However, a spinal injury in 2017 led to two seasons of inactivity, culminating in Shazier’s retirement before the 2020 NFL season.
