Beginning this weekend with the GP of Portugal, the MotoGP season will officially begin and last year’s runner-up Fabio Quartararo will be hopeful to begin the campaign on high-note. With the season-opening race at the Algarve International Circuit in Portimao, bike racing giants Ducati and its Italian champion Francesco Bagnaia are also back to defend their constructors’ and riders’ crowns.

Bagnaia, the first Ducati rider to win the title since 2007, and the first Italian since 2009, edged out 2021 champion Quartararo on the penultimate day of the 2022 season to win his first world championship. If Yamaha can provide Quartararo a bike that is capable of competing against the powerful Ducati, he will return in a big way this year.
