Gerwyn Price will begin his title defense at 2022 Gibraltar Darts Trophy on Saturday, which will be the last PDC European Tour stop on 2022 PDC Pro Tour. The competition will run from October 14–16, 2022, at Gibraltar’s Victoria Stadium. There will be 48 participants in the field, and the winner will take home £25,000 of the £140,000 in prize money.

History of Gibraltar Darts Trophy, Format, And All Edition Details
From 2013 through 2019, Gibraltar Darts Trophy always took place at Victoria Stadium in Gibraltar but as an exception, it was played in Europa Sports Park during 2021 edition. However, 2022 edition will return to traditional venue of Victoria Stadium in what might be the last edition of prestigious Gibraltar Darts Trophy. In the inaugural edition during 2013, legend Phil Taylor won 6-1 against Jamie Lewis in final to become champion and lift the title.
Following win of James Wade in 2014, Michael van Gerwen dominated in Gibraltar Darts Trophy to win three of next four edition including back-to-back victories in 2015 and 2016. During 2019, Krzysztof Ratajski interrupted domination of van Gerwen by defeating 2016 runner-up Dave Chisnall in final. This tournament was suspended in 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic but returned to existence in 2021 where Gerwyn Price white-washed Mensur Suljović in final to become the champion.

In the illustrious history of Gibraltar Darts Trophy, MVG has won three editions while Phil Taylor, Wade, Michael Smith, Ratajski, and Price have won one title each.

Prize Money Pool Distribution of 2022 Gibraltar Darts Trophy
The winner of 2022 Gibraltar Darts Trophy will receive £25,000 in prize money, which is more than twice of £10,000 awarded to runner-up. Each competitor will receive a £1,000 guaranteed cash prize from the net prize pool of £140,000.
