PDC Interwitten German Darts Championship 2022 culminated with the finals on 13th March 2022, know the results, scores, prize money and winner

The Interwetten German Darts Championship is the oldest PDC tournament in Europe. In 2007, the first iteration was held in Halle/Westphalia. The event went to Berlin at the start of the European Tour era before settling in Hildesheim permanently in 2013.

After defeating Jonny Clayton 8–3 in the 2020 final, Devon Petersen is the reigning champion. However, Peterson lost to second seed Michael Smith with a score of 4-6 in the second round. After defeating Rob Cross 8–5 in the final, Michael van Gerwen won his 33rd European Tour title.

PDC Interwitten German Darts 2022 Tournament Format

The event’s top 16 entrants from the PDC ProTour Order of Merit on 1 February were automatically qualified and seeded in the second round.

Players from six qualifying events, competed for the remaining 32 spots including 24 spots in the Tour Card Holder Qualifier.

In the first, second, third rounds, and quarterfinals, all matches were contested over the best of 11 legs. All matches in the semi-finals featured best of 13 legs. The Final was contested over the best of 15 legs format.

From March 11 to 13, 2022, the event took place in Halle 39 in Hildesheim. It included a field of 48 players and a prize pool of £140,000, with the winner receiving £25,000.

With a great comeback triumph over Rob Cross in Sunday’s Interwetten German Darts Championship final, Michael van Gerwen won for the first time on the PDC European Tour since 2019.

The Dutchman won his first ranking championship of 2022 in style at Halle 39 in Hildesheim, following back-to-back Cazoo Premier League victories in Exeter and Brighton.

Van Gerwen’s last of 32 European Tour victories came in Graz in 2019, but he showed his class by defeating Cross 8-5 to win the £25,000 prize.
