The Circuit Paul Richard has always been a tough one for teams, in regards to overtaking on several exit kerbs because of the fast-paced changes. During the initial practice session, Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen faced the heat of these exit kerbs.
The spoken about drivers from Mercedes and Red Bull led to both the teams requesting the FIA to make the necessary changes before the French Grand Prix Qualifying session, to ensure no unfortunate crashes, collision or blowouts happen.
After which FIA race director Michael Masi confirmed he would look into the issue following a pair of radio exchanges that were broadcast during the two practice sessions earlier on the first day.
French GP News: Why Haven’t The Controversial Exit Kerbs Been Changed?
The latest news and reports suggest that the FIA has rejected requests from F1 teams to remove the exit kerbs, which remained in place for the opening Formula 3 race, this morning and will continue to be used in FP3 and qualifying.
Both Mercedes and Red Bull’s sporting directors made a plea to FIA to make the subsequent changes by proofing the enormous financial cost that comes with a trip over the kerbs.
To bring everyone on the same page, all the Formula 1 teams have been very careful about the financial cost including damage control after the restricted cost capital budget being introduced. Which ensures all the teams have to remain within the specified limit.
