The Indian Men’s Hockey Team has had a fantastic FIH Pro League 2022 but crashed out of the title race after failing to win against Netherlands on Saturday, we look at the results, points table, results and standings of the tournament along with the upcoming schedule 

From October 16th, 2021, the third edition of the Men’s FIH Pro League, a field hockey competition for men’s national teams, began. The event will culminate with the last match on June 30th, 2022. Currently, Netherlands seem the sure-shot winners of the competition with Indian Men’s Team out of the title race and Belgium being the only real challenger.

Participating Teams In The FIH Men’s Pro Hockey League

A nine-team round-robin competition was originally planned to run from October 2021 to June 2022. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and travel restrictions, New Zealand and Australia withdrew on September 17, 2021. On December 8, 2021, Canada and South Africa became members.

Canada withdrew on January 17, 2022, six weeks after being chosen to replace New Zealand due to the COVID-19 Omicron variant. On January 25, 2022, France was named as Canada’s replacement.

Format And Rules

In a round-robin style with home and away games, the nine teams will compete. After each team has played a total of 16 matches, the table’s top team will be named champion. The worst team will be demoted after the 2021-22 season, and the FIH Nations Cup champion will take their place.

Men’s FIH Pro League Hockey Results And Score

So far, sixty-eight matches have been played in the FIH Pro League 2021-22 season and now only four games are left in the 2022 FIH Pro Hockey League. The Indian men’s hockey team put in a valiant effort before losing 1-4 in a shootout to leaders the Netherlands after both teams were tied 2-2 at the end of regulation time, therefore ending their chances of winning the FIH Pro League title on Saturday.

India and the Netherlands are scheduled to clash again on Sunday, which will be the second match of the double-leg tie and last match in 2022 FIH Pro Hockey League for Indian Men’s Team.

England and Belgium will face off in the upcoming FIH Pro League encounter. Meanwhile, India’s campaign will end on June 19th with a match against Netherlands. Following their clash against India, Netherlands will face Spain twice on 25th June and 26th June respectively. However, Netherlands will try to secure the FIH Pro League Title with a win against India on Sunday and play final two games without any pressure.

Men’s FIH Pro Hockey League 2022 Latest Points Table And Standings

With one game remaining, India is still in third place with 30 points from 15 games. The Netherlands leads the table with 33 points from 13 games and three games to go, while Olympic champions Belgium is in second position with 31 points from 14 games and two games to go.
