The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) held its first junior world championships back in 2019, in Győr, Hungary. As such, the upcoming competition is taking place after a four years.
Junior World Artistic Gymnastics Championships 2023 preview
In the first edition of the Junior World Artistic Gymnastics Championships held in 2019, China’s Guan Chenchen made her debut. Chenchen went on to become the beam champion in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Other stars like United States world medallists Skye Blakely, Wei Xuanyuan of China, Illia Kovton of Ukraine and Great Britain’s Jennifer Gadirova all emerged in the tournament’s first edition.
In the upcoming competition, American gymnast Hezly Rivera will be a player worth watching at the 2023 edition. Rrivera has the second highest all-around score so far in the season.
