Volodar Murzin, an 18-year-old chess prodigy, has emerged victorious in the 2024 FIDE World Rapid Chess Championship, cementing his place as the second-youngest champion in the tournament’s history, following Nodirbek Abdusattorov’s 2021 triumph. With an unbeaten streak, Murzin displayed remarkable composure and skill. Sharing second place were Alexander Grischuk, a three-time World Blitz Champion, and Ian Nepomniachtchi, both securing nine points.

Her victory adds to India’s remarkable chess achievements in 2024, following dual golds in the Chess Olympiad and Gukesh D’s classical World Champion title.
