Verstappen’s win in France came after Ferrari’s ace driver Charles Leclerc crashed during the 18th lap of the race. Leclerc was leading the race until then, his car was dragged out of control at the 11th corner and got hit by the tyre barrier. On Sunday, Lewis Hamilton registered himself to the club of 300 races. It was going good for Hamilton, starting from the fourth grid, he managed to jump ahead of Sergio Perez at the start but Ferrari driver Leclerc’s crash in the 18th lap cost Hamilton to slow down for three seconds and made it clear that Hamilton would not have the pace to catch Verstappen, allowing Verstappen to advance and claim his seventh win.
Speaking to the media, Hamilton was completely surprised by Red Bull’s performance and agreed that Verstappen was fast. He also called on Mercedes to work similar, to achieve good results.
