F1 Brazil GP 2021: Lewis Hamilton Hit With Fine For Taking Off Safety Belt, List Of All The Fines And Penalty Given

Lewis Hamilton secured a sensational victory at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix after enduring a difficult 25 place grid drop penalty. On the other hand, Max Verstappen was unable to match the heroics of the Brit who was on the next level this weekend.

Lewis Hamilton Seals Unprecedented Win At The Brazil GP 2021

Hamilton smashed qualifying and secured pole position for the Sprint Race, but was later disqualified and was handed over a 25 place grid drop for the crucial weekend.

Despite all the odds, Hamilton came from P20 to P5 in 24 laps which was a quarter of the length that would be completed the next day. However, he still had to serve a 5 place grid penalty in the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, which he turned into his favor quickly by making up the positions in the opening 10 laps at Interlagos.

It was an entertaining battle till the end between both the Championship rivals who were pushing their cars to their maximum potential. In the later stages of the Sao Paulo GP, Hamilton took the lead from Verstappen and went ahead to secure his 101st Grand Prix victory. The Briton was on exceptional form and displayed the character of a true Champion paying tribute to Ayrton Senna after a sensational win at the Interlagos.

All The Drivers Who Received Heavy Fines After The Weekend And The Lewis Hamilton Safety Belt Fine

1. Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton got carried away at the moment after securing an emotional victory at the Interlagos and released his seatbelt which was punishable under Article 4 of the sporting regs, which states:

“Drivers must be properly restrained in their seat by safety belts in conformity with the technical regulations for the vehicle concerned.”

He was handed over a €5,000 fine at the end with an additional €20,000 which is suspended through the end of 2022. The Briton will gladly accept any fine after his sensational drive at the Sao Paulo GP after a disappointing weekend with all the fines and disqualifications.

2. Max Verstappen

The Dutchman was handed over a heavy fine of €50,000 for inspecting the rear wing of his and Lewis Hamilton’s car at the finish line. Subsequently, his curiosity was punished by the stewards who felt that Verstappen breached the ‘Parc Fermé.’

Verstappen and Red Bull were called to the stewards to investigate an alleged breach of article 2.5.1 of the ISC. The relevant article states that “no operation, checking, tuning or repair is allowed unless authorized or by the applicable regulations.

3. Yuki Tsunoda

The Alpha Tauri driver collided with Lance Stroll before the Senna curve trying to overtake the Canadian but, touched the Aston Martin which damaged his own car. Carbon fibers from his car were scattered all over the track which resulted in the safety car being deployed. Meanwhile, Tsunoda was handed over a 10s penalty and 2 points on his 2021 license taking his tally to 6 points.

It will be interesting to see what happens in Qatar as the Championship is coming to an end and the battle is intensifying.
