In contrast to recent seasons, Star Sports won’t be showing or streaming Formula 1 races anytime soon. To watch the races and other activities of the Grand Prix, F1 fans must sign up for F1 TV Pro.

The announcement was a huge shock to Formula One fans in India, where interest in the sport was growing because of the popularity of the Netflix docuseries “Drive to Survive” and the simplicity of watching races on Star Sports and Hotstar. But, F1 fans will now need to pay for an F1 TV Pro subscription, which comes in two flavours.

Although the annual plan will cost INR 2999 for the entire season, the monthly subscription will cost INR 399. Exclusive camera perspectives, footage from 20 drivers’ onboard cameras, team radio channels, and more race analyses will all be available on F1 TV Pro. Fans can watch other races from the Porsche Supercup series, F2, F3, and F1 in addition to F1.

Why was the F1 TV Pro launched?

An F1 official was questioned about the decision to launch F1 TV Pro and responded that the move was made because Indian broadcasters didn’t value the rights the same way they did. The strong mobile market in India, according to the F1 official, was another important factor in the decision to introduce F1 TV Pro.

“India is a connected market, it’s a sophisticated market, and it’s a very powerful mobile market,” an F1 executive stated. They were drawn to India since it has non-traditional methods and platforms for the distribution of digital rights content.

Naturally, F1 also spoke with Star and a few other more established platforms, but they thought that the media companies didn’t appreciate their rights as highly as they would have liked to. In the future, they might try to work out a more conventional linear contract since there are a lot of very knowledgeable and devoted fans in India. However, for now, F1 TV is something that they are happy and confident about. In India, there are a lot of very knowledgeable and devoted fans.
