Max Verstappenās mouthwatering deal with Red Bull
25-year-old Max Verstappen earned an impressive Ā£45 million in wages last year with F1 team Red Bull. His deal with them was inclusive of bonuses for winning races, taking podiums and also for winning both the driversā and teamsā championship titles. Verstappen’s wages easily dwarfed that of second-place Lewis Hamilton with a Ā£16 million difference.
Lewis Hamilton to sign new deal
Lewis Hamilton, who is in the process of negotiating a new deal with his current F1 team Mercedes, earned a reported Ā£29 million in wages last year. The 38-year-old finished last season without winning any races for the first time in his F1 career.
Hamilton has currently had first talks with Mercedes boss Toto Wolff over a new deal. However, Hamilton will likely be offered with a similar contract as his last one with similar terms.
Meanwhile, the veteran driver is also seeking an ambassador position with Mercedes in the long-term, for when he does eventually retire from his racing career. Moreover, both Hamilton and Verstappen also have their own private endorsements too. In fact, the Belgian-Dutchman just recently signed a new deal with Heineken.
Jenson Button believes Hamilton will come out flying next season
Meanwhile, former teammate Jenson Button, believes that Lewis Hamilton will come out flying out of the blocks next season. The new season is set to start next week in Bahrain. Button was Hamiltonās teammate back when the two drivers were at McLaren between 2010 and 2012.
The 43-year-old British driver revealed how he started to contemplate retirement when he struggled with an uncompetitive car.
Button revealed:
Itās something we all go through in our careers. Itās a reason why a lot of people retire, they are not in a winning car anymore. Thatās why I left. You can deal with the pressure you put yourself under and the calendar, if you are in a winning car. When you are not, you are like āIāve had enough, I want to get out.ā
Meanwhile he also shared how if Hamilton does indeed kick start from the go, it will put a lot of pressure on his teammate George. However, he assured that both the two drivers are a good pairing. However, he added that Lewis will be on it from the go and that he looks forward to that competition.
