According to the Mercury News, Velasquez shot a revolver numerous times at a vehicle carrying Harry Goularte, and many rounds injured Goularte’s stepfather, who was also in the vehicle. According to investigators, Velasquez also crashed his Ford F250 into the side of the Silverado carrying Goularte and his stepfather.
Goularte is facing felony accusations of child molestation. The youngster is a relative of Velasquez. Police suspect that Goularte improperly touched the youngster many times while working at a daycare center managed by Goularte’s mother. Goularte is a resident of the same building as the facility.
Goularte was arraigned in Santa Clara County Superior Court on February 25. The court granted supervised release, which the District Attorney’s office opposed in a statement.
According to the DA’s office, Goularte was supposed to pick up an electronic monitoring bracelet on the day of the shooting, which Velasquez discovered and launched an 11-mile high-speed pursuit through San Jose in an attempt to find Goularte.
During the chase, Goularte’s stepfather, Paul Bender, was injured in the arm and body. He’s expected to live.
Velasquez’s next court appearance is scheduled for March 23. His arraignment, which will involve a bond hearing, was pushed out to March 7 on Wednesday. He will be imprisoned till then.

Velasquez, 39, made his MMA debut in 2006 and joined the UFC in 2008. He went 12-3 after the promotion. In 2010, he defeated Brock Lesnar to win the UFC heavyweight title. After losing the championship against Junior dos Santos in 2011, he reclaimed it in a rematch in 2012. Injuries hampered his career, and he has only competed in three races since 2013. Velasquez’s most recent MMA bout was a KO loss to Francis Ngannou in February 2019. He has also worked in pro wrestling, having competed for AAA and WWE.
