F1 is known for its international travel, with 23 races in 22 nations scheduled for the 2022 season, but how do teams and drivers get to each race and do they travel together in first class
You spend one weekend in Baku, Azerbaijan, and the next weekend in Montreal, Canada, 5,500 miles distant.
There’s no denying it: you’ll need to be on the other side of the world, complete with all of the necessary tools and equipment to operate your vehicles.
As a result, teams must adhere to strict travel deadlines between races, particularly when competing in back-to-back tournaments. So, how do F1 teams and drivers travel between races – and why do some pieces of equipment travel by air while others travel by sea?

How Do F1 Teams Get Around?
The team will begin its pack-up process immediately following the conclusion of an F1 race. When they return from the FIA parc ferme after the race, they must disassemble the garage and cars.
After that, everything is packed into freight pallets, with a space for everything and everything in its proper location. The massive RVs must also be dismantled and packed away at European races, but this time-consuming process is not an issue at flyaway events where circuits provide lodging for the crews.
After everything has been packed, some of it is transported to the airport, while the remainder is sent to the seaport. Chassis, engines/gearboxes, and wings are flown from event to event to ensure they arrive in one piece, as an F1 race without cars would be difficult to organise.
F1 marine freight is usually a few races ahead of schedule. If a set of items is utilized in Canada, for example, it may be placed aboard a cargo ship and delivered to Mexico City four months later.
Where Do the Drivers Fit In?
Once a driver has completed their post-race media appearances and engineering debriefings, they will depart for the airport and fly home or to the next race. They’ll most likely fly business or first class.
The reporters and mechanics, on the other hand, who have just demolished the garage, stripped the automobile, and carted it all away, will be largely in economy class. Teams do not travel together with drivers and teams looking to complete other commitments.
F1 teams headquartered in the United Kingdom will fly to East Midlands Airport and load a pair of Boeing 747 cargo planes with all of their gear. Teams will need about 34 tonnes of air freight. Smaller things such as wheel guns, tyre blankets, trollies, and anything else that may be split into many sets make up the maritime freight.
