Reggie Chaney was a former college basketball player who was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Chaney was only 23 years old at the time of his death. Before starting out his college basketball career, Chaney played high school basketball in Texas. However, he shifted to Findlay Prep, in Nevada where he played during his senior year.

Reggie Chaney was born to parents Reggie Lee and Chandra Chaney. He also had three other siblings, two sisters named Aubrey Lee and Damia Chaney, as well as a brother called Carter Lee.

Chaney played his first two seasons of college basketball for the Arkansas Razorbacks. He eventually joined the University of Houston, where he went on to play for three seasons. In his third seasons with the Cougars, Reggie was named as the American Athletic Conference’s Sixth Man of the Year. Moreover, he was a part of the University of Houston squad that won the NCAA championship in 2021. During his time at Houston, he made 100 appearances despite dealing with injuries with his hand, knee, and back. Chaney averaged 3.6 points and 2.6 rebounds per game before graduating this year in May with a liberal arts degree.
