Spanish centre-back Eric Garcia picked up an injury during Barcelona’s La Liga clash against Celta Vigo, read on to know all about his injury update and probable return date
Problems continue to mount for FC Barcelona. Centre-back and Spanish International Eric Garcia is the new addition to the list of injured players along with Sergio Aguero, Ansu Fati and Ousmane Dembele. The Spaniard picked up the injury during Barcelona’s match against Celta Vigo on Saturday.
This is not just a blow to the Balugrana side but also to Luis Enrique’s Spain squad as the World Cup Qualifiers are just around the corner. With Fati and Garcia both ruled out, concerns are on the rise for both FC Barcelona and Spain. Garcia was not able to finish the game against Celta Vigo which resulted in a draw, even though Barca had a 3-0 lead.
The former Manchester City player departed from the field with discomfort in his right leg. Tests were conducted which revealed that Garcia had a right-calf strain, immediately ruling him out of the Spanish national squad.
Eric Garcia injury update, status, report, news and probable return date
The 20-year old has played a total of 13 times for the first team this season. He was replaced by Uruguayan centre-back Ronald Araujo at half-time during Barca’s fixture at Balaidos. This means Garcia will be taking some time off to recover during the international break and can hopefully join the Barcelona squad in time before their match against Espanyol on November 20th.
However, only time will tell if the Spanish defender would have recovered 100% by then. If the injury is not that serious, Garcia might return in 2-3 weeks’ time.
