The Black Caps’ speedster to set to give the forthcoming two match England vs New Zealand test series aa miss to shift his attention to the encounter against India
Yet to ever win a massive ICC trophy, New Zealand are ensuring they leave no stone unturned to lift the prestigious World Test Championship. Set to take on India later in June in the inaugural summit clash of the marquee competition, the Black Caps are indulging in a string of gruelling practice sessions at the moment.
The side has scheduled a two match test series against England to get better acclimatised to the conditions at hand for the WTC 2021 Final. With the showpiece final set to be held in Southampton, the Black Caps scheduled a two matched test series in England against the host country.
However, premier speedster Trent Boult looks set to give the series a skip. With the quick spending a considerable amount of time in isolation at the tailend of the Indian Premier League, the New Zealand cricket team have decided its best if Trent gives the England test series a miss.
Trent Boult To Skip England vs New Zealand Test Series
New Zealand’s coach, Gary Stead all but asserted the decision. Speaking at the presser after New Zealand’s practice session on Monday, Stead talked about the approach New Zealand had decided to adopt in relation to Boult.
“I don’t think you’ll see Trent in the two test matches here. He arrives on Friday and our planning and what we’re looking at doing with Trent is having him ready for the World Test Championship final.
“He’s been home and he has had a week of bowling over there, which has been great, after the fair amount of isolation time at the end of the IPL, but our view with Trent right now is it’s unlikely that he will play the test in Edgbaston, and he’s more likely to be just available for the one-off test,” Stead said.

Boult had previously already opted out of the forthcoming series opener at Lords to spend time with his family after being in isolation owing to the ongoing COVID pandemic. The two match series between England and New Zealand will be getting underway on June 2.
Boult will meanwhile continue honing his skill set in New Zealand where he’s partaking in training sessions. The ominous bowler has an impressive 36 wickets in nine matches against India.
