The Ruth Strauss foundation was started by former England captain Andrew Strauss in the name of his wife. His wife was fighting lung cancer for a very long time but lost her life to it in 2018 after which Andrew Strauss started the foundation. The Ruth Strauss Foundation with help of the ECB has declared the 2nd day of the lord’s test as “Red for Ruth Day”, in which not only players but every person on the field pays tribute and supports the foundation by wearing red. The players wear red caps and have a special sign engraved on their collars. The broadcasters wear a full red attire for the day also the crowd comes in red clothes in support.

India who had a very strong position on day 1 managed to make only 364 as their first innings total with a vital contribution by K.L. Rahul of 129 runs off 250 balls followed by Rohit Sharma scoring a blissful 83.
