On day two, just following the drinks break, Smith was dismissed while trying to set himself up for an immediate score. The 34-year-old attempted to hit the pitched-up delivery for a boundary but was only successful in getting an edge. The Australian legend was once again removed by Tongue in county cricket.

 

Who is Josh Tongue?

Joshua Charles Tongue, better known as Josh Tongue, was born on November 15, 1997, in England. Early on, he developed a passion for the sport of cricket, and in March 2016, he made his first-class Worcestershire debut against the Oxford MCC University team.

A look at Josh Tongue’s debuts

Tongue has been consistent throughout his career and has grown to become one of England’s most sought-after cricketers. Tongue bowls at a fast-medium pace while playing cricket right-handed. He is fondly referred to as “Jeevy Boy” by his teammates.

Tongue was included in his Lis debut for Worcestershire in the 2017 Royal London One-Day Cup on Friday, May 5, 2017. On June 1, 2023, Tongue played in his first England Test match against Ireland. On June 2, 2023, he took his first test wicket and finished the game with 5-66. With an all-seam attack named by England for the second Test against Australia at Lord’s on Wednesday, June 28, Tongue made his Ashes debut, taking Ali’s place.

Josh Tongue’s family

Josh Tongue’s parents gave birth to him in Redditch, England.

Tongue is not express pace but can touch 90mph and bowl what is termed a “heavy” ball and he carried out Stokes’s short-ball plans during the Test against Ireland at Lord’s at the start of June, when he made his debut and took five for 66 in the second innings.
