The prestigious Durand Cup 2022 edition culminated with the final on Sunday as Bengaluru emerged as champions following a 2-1 victory in the final over Mumbai City FC, know the winner prize money
At the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on Sunday, Bengaluru FC defeated Mumbai City FC 2-1 in the Durand Cup final. To help Bengaluru win the Durand Cup for the first time in their history, Siva Shakti and Alan Costa scored goals on either side of Apuia’s equalizer.

The prize money has been enhanced to ₹60 lakh for the winners and ₹40 lakh for the runners-up this year.

Bengaluru got the game going faster than the other two clubs, scoring on the first opportunity. Sivasakthi Narayanan scored in the eleventh minute with a beautiful take, giving Bengaluru the lead right away. Apuia Ralte’s close-range tap-in for Mumbai in the 30th minute restored parity. The game appeared well matched with a score of 1-1 at the half, but Alan Costa’s powerful header from a corner in the 61st minute gave Simon Grayson the victory he was hoping for to begin his tenure as Bengaluru manager.
In the 87th minute, Chhetri was given an opportunity to seal the deal for Bengaluru when Sivasakthi found him in the box, but the captain’s shot flew over the crossbar as he skipped past two defenders. During added time, Stewart managed to get a shot off in extra time, but it missed its intended goal, preventing Mumbai from tying the score.
Despite best attempts from Mumbai City to equalize, Bengaluru FC held on to their one-goal lead and won 2-1 to lift the Durand Cup. Following this win, Sunil Chettri has finally achieved the missing silverware from his trophy-laden career.

2022 Durand Cup Top Scorers & Best Players
Despite losing the final, Mumbai City stars Lallianzuala Chhangte and Greg Stewart finished as top-two goal scorers of the tournament with seven and six goals respectively. In 2022 Durand Cup, Greg Stewart is the only player to score a hat-trick, which he scored against Chennaiyin FC in the quarterfinal. Meanwhile, Bengaluru star Sivasakthi Narayanan finished his campaign with five goals including a goal in the final.
