Dr Sailakshmi Balijepally, a paediatrician and the founder of the EKAM Foundation, passed away on Saturday following a protracted illness, have a look at the cause of her death reason

In 2009, she established the EKAM Foundation, a non-governmental organization that promotes mother and child health and wellbeing, intending to ensure that no kid is refused access to healthcare because of financial limitations. The EKAM Foundation expanded under her direction to become a multinational nonprofit organization to transform healthcare into one that is efficient, effective, and inclusive.
Thus far, more than three lakh youngsters have benefited from the foundation’s programs. Maternal and child health was Dr. Sailakshmi’s interest and area of concentration. Her first concern was saving the lives of moms and infants. She also collaborated with the community to improve its general well-being.
A statement from EKAM stated that her legacy endures in the innumerable lives that its transformative projects have impacted. In order to close the gaps in healthcare delivery and access, she also collaborated extensively with the community and the government.
In recognition of her leadership and accomplishment in 2015, the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, gave her the “Nari Shakti Puraskar,” among other accolades. The President presented her with the honour.

Sailakshmi was raised in a household of doctors. She was born and reared in Hyderabad and graduated with a gold medal from Gandhi Hospital’s MBBS program. She completed her Diploma from the National Board in the Kanchi Kamakoti CHILDS Trust Hospital. She is survived by her mother Shaantha B. and sister Sharadha B.
In addition, Dr. Sailakshmi Balijepally received other honours in recognition of her contributions to societal advancement. In the MBBS program at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad, she won the gold medal.
