The viral videos show Baltasar Ebang Engonga, the age 54 married director with six children of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF), in flagrante at his finance ministry office with a number of partners, including the wives of high-ranking officials. While the names of the women hasn’t been revealed yet, a video on Twitter/X claims that one of the woman involved has committed suicide after her video went viral. However, the veracity of these rumors hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue announced on X that the government would order the “immediate suspension of all civil servants who have had s*xual relations in the offices of the ministries, as this constitutes a flagrant violation of the code of conduct and the law on public ethics”.
S*x tapes involving public personnel have already been circulated on social media. But because of the officials’ fame, the scandal has become so popular.

In order “to curb the distribution of p*rnographic videos that are flooding social networks in Equatorial Guinea,” Obiang announced last week that he had issued the country’s telephone providers, regulator, and telecoms ministry a 24-hour notice.
Ebang Engonga, a married father and the son of Baltasar Engonga Edjo, the current Chairman of the Commission of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community, is known as “Bello” due to his attractive appearance. He is also connected to the long-serving president of the nation.
According to state television station TVGE, the s*x recordings were released on social media during a period when he was being held in custody at Malabo’s notorious Black Beach prison in connection with a case involving misuse of public funds.

Action against Baltasar Ebang Engonga by head prosecutor
Anatolio Nzang Nguema, the head prosecutor for Equatorial Guinea, promised TVGE that Ebang Engonga would face charges of “public health” if medical tests showed that he was “infected with a s*xually transmitted disease.”
Following the actions taken by the government to stop the dissemination of the s*x recordings, witnesses informed AFP that the country’s internet traffic, and specifically the downloading of photos, has been badly interrupted.
