Bungie has changed the way they deliver stories in Destiny 2 by breaking each chapter into seasons, know the release date of season 17
Each season follows a certain arc inside an expansion, culminating in the company’s release of a new tale, usually after four seasons. Season of the Hunt, Chosen, Splicer, & Lost, for example, were all separate arcs in Beyond Light.

Bungie’s announcements and surprises for Destiny 2 Season 17
Bungie has announced that Destiny 2 Season 17 will be released on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 6 p.m. BST, with the official D2 update time set for 6 p.m. BST. If you live in North America, this means getting ready to download the latest update at 10 a.m. PT. This will be a unified launch, which means that players on all platforms will be able to play at the same time.
Bungie will undertake server maintenance as part of the overall timetable, but this should not stop gameplay for too long. Bungie has confirmed the following events for later this week:
“To prepare for the launch of Season of [REDACTED], Destiny 2 will undergo scheduled downtime from 9 AM PDT (1600 UTC) to 11 AM PDT (1800 UTC) on May 24. Below is the scheduled timeline for this release.”
- 9 AM PDT Maintenance is scheduled to begin.
- 9:45 AM Destiny 2 is brought offline.
- 10 AM Destiny 2 will be brought back online. Update 4.1.0 will be playable on all platforms and regions.
- 11 AM Destiny 2 maintenance is scheduled to complete.
Besides the entire PvP sandbox, the Iron Banner is likely to see the most dramatic changes next season. Players will only receive PvP activity twice per season, making it more infrequent. Forging Values Lord Saladin will come to Tower, although in a different area this time.
From exchanging coins to focusing on Iron Engrams, the vendor’s reputation will shift. By playing battles and completing bounties, anyone can obtain their preferred Iron Banner weapon. All Iron Tokens in a player’s inventory will vanish starting in Season 17.
