On Friday, January 6, 2023, at 9 p.m., BBC One and iPlayer will debut the first episode of Death In Paradise season 12.
A group of astronomers have assembled on Saint Marie’s cliffs to see Jupiter and Saturn’s nighttime alignment at the centre of the first murder case in the new series.
However, when Neville’s idol and famous professor Bertrand Sworder died suddenly, events take a terrible turn. While Sophie, a recent newcomer, and Neville continue to cross paths, the prospect of love remains in the air. Back at the station, Darlene passed her admission exam and is now qualified to become a trainee officer.

Chelsea Edge will play Sophie Chambers, who is expected to make several appearances during season 12 and Neville’s potential love interest.
The actress made her on-screen debut in 2013 and has since starred in over 20 roles. The list includes I Hate Suzie, Suspicion on Apple TV+, The Missing, Vera, Queens of Mystery, and most recently, a small role in the excellent Star Wars series Andor.
Kevin Eldon as Jeremy Herbert
Kent-born Kevin Eldon, who has appeared in more than 160 roles since making his acting debut in Fahrenheit 451 in 1966, is undoubtedly one of the show’s greatest guest stars in episode 1.
Alexandra Moloney as Sally Blake
The actor who played Sally Blake in 2017’s Phantom Thread is at the opposite end of the experience spectrum; she has only been in six prior roles overall. She appeared in the series & Domina and the movie DannyBoy.
Amit Shah as Sunil Singh Kirmani
Amit Shah, who plays Sunil Singh Kirmani, is another well-known character in the first episode. With appearances in Jekyll and Hyde, Crashing, Johnny English Strikes Again, His Dark Materials, The Witcher, The Long Call, and The Other One. In the most recent season 3 of Happy Valley, the actor played close to 80 roles.
Eddie Marlow Is Played By Aaron Shosanya
Aaron Shosanya, a London-born actor, plays Eddie Marlow in Death in Paradise, his 12th acting role overall. Fans of the television show Top Boy, Silk, The Sarah Jane Adventures, The Crouches, and Famalam will be familiar with the 29-year-old.
Sarah Woodward As Miriam Sworder
It’s intriguing that Sarah Woodward is cast in the part of Miriam Sworder. She appears frequently in the ITV series Professor T, which stars Ben Miller, the original Death in Paradise detective.
Sarah’s performances in Queens of Mystery, The Pale Horse, Holby City, Quiz, and the 2020 movie Supernova will also be recognised by fans.
