Which confirmed last month that it was carrying out the International Olympic Committee’s recommendation to bar athletes. Brazil’s representation in the tournament will be the country’s highest ever, with teams from more than 100 countries anticipated. The Deaflympics schedule includes 209 events in 17 sports.
There are 17 sports: athletics, badminton, cycling, golf, judo, karate, orienteering, shooting, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, wrestling, basketball, football, handball, and volleyball. The most recent summer Deaflympics were held in the Turkish city of Samsun in 2017.

The Indian Deaflympics 2021 contingent, comprised of 65 athletes competing in 11 sports disciplines, was given a warm welcome ahead of their travel to the games, which begin on May 1 in Cazias Du Sul, Brazil.

The largest and youngest presence ever from India in the Deaflympics will compete in athletics, badminton, judo, golf, karate, shooting, swimming, tennis, table tennis, taekwondo, and wrestling from May 1 to May 15.
The Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Anurag Thakur and the ministry’s junior minister, Nisith Pramanik, were among those present to offer the send-off. Extending his best wishes, Thakur stated that the participants have proven their worth by being chosen to represent India at the Games.
The Union Minister also praised the All India Sports Council for the Deaf (AISCD). And the Sports Authority of India for their tremendous assistance to the sportsmen. India fielded a delegation of 46 athletes to the 2017 Deaflympics in Turkey. It took home five medals, including one gold, one silver, and three bronze.
