India’s oldest TV channel DD Sports will once again telecast all the games of India in the Asia Cup 2022 for free
Doordarshan recently telecasted India’s West Indies Tour for free which India won convincingly. DD announced the news on 24 August on thier Twitter handle that DD Free Dish & DD Sports will telecast Asia Cup 2022 for free.

DD Sports telecasted the India Tour of West Indies earlier this month
The India Tour of West Indies was not having any broadcaster in India but then DD stepped up and bought the rights of the series. The Live streaming rights of the series were in the hands of the newly launched Fan code app. India showed a dominant performance in the series and clean-swept India 3-0 in ODI’s. In T20Is the results were not much different as India won 4-1 in the 5-match T20I series.

DD Sports has telecasted the Asia Cup 2022 India-Pakistan clash
The highly anticipated game between India and Pakistan was telecasted for free on DD Sports. The game which had a viewership of over 10 million on the OTT platform was telecasted for free. India defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets with the match-winning performance of Hardik Pandya. He picked up 3 wickets and scored 33 crucial runs, in the end, to take India to victory.
BCCI used to pay Doordarshan for the telecast in the 80s
The time has changed a lot as BCCI used to pay 5 lakh rupees to Doordarshan for the telecast of cricket mathces. At that time there wasn’t any other channel on Indian television except Doordarshan. The tables turn In 1993 when Worldtel submitted a bid of $600,000 to BCCI for the telecast of the England tour of India. Mark Mascarenhas was the artist behind this evolution of Indian cricket. He was the chief of Worldtel and also the manager of great Sachin Tendulkar.
What is the Sports Broadcasting signals Act 2007?
The Sports Broadcasting Act 2007 was passed in 2007 in the public interest. The right says that no private channel can telecast sporting events of national importance without sharing the signals with Prasar Bharti.
