On June 18 in Las Vegas, Canada and the United States will compete in the CONCACAF Nations League Final for 2022–23. Mexico was beaten by the USMNT 3-0 in a thrilling playoff game. In the meanwhile, Canada defeated Panama 2-0 to get to the title match.

After returning from their first FIFA World Cup in 36 years, the Reds are competing in their first Finals competition. The Stars and Stripes, who won the first event two years ago, come into this game as the defending champions. By defeating Mexico 3-2 to claim victory in the opening competition of 2021, the United States finished first, with Canada placing fifth. Fortunately, John Herdman’s team has a chance to win a trophy for the first time since they took home the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2000.

Prize money for the CONCACAF Nations League champions

A $1 million prize will be given to the CONCACAF Nations League champion. During the three-tiered CONCACAF Nations League, the teams who placed first and second in their respective League A groups qualified for the 16-team Gold Cup.

US defeats Mexico to reach the CONCACAF Nations League final.

Christian Pulisic was instrumental for USMNT to reach the final as he scored twice in the victory. In the 37th minute, Pulisic took advantage of some shoddy Mexican defence to score the game’s first goal. He found space and sent a low effort past goalie Guillermo Ochoa. Timothy Weah set up the Chelsea winger in front of goal for an easy finish to make it 2-0 in the first seconds of the second half.

Diego Cocca’s team was frustrated after defender Cesar Montes was dismissed and the Americans were also down to 10 men as Weston McKennie was dismissed following a scuffle. Before the game erupted out of control, in the 78th minute when Ricardo Pepi added another goal to make it 3-0. Due to homophobic chants in the audience, the match was stopped and Sergino Dest and Gerardo Arteaga were given red cards.
