At the Coventry Stadium and Arena, the 23-year-old Divya Kakran defeated Tiger Lily Cocker Lemalie of Tonga by fall to secure her podium place. Nigerian wrestler Blessing Oborududu, the current champion and silver medalist from Tokyo 2020, was matched up against the Indian wrestler in the quarterfinals.

The Indian failed to compete evenly against her rival and lost via technical superiority to the Nigerian ace. Oborududu’s advancement to the final, however, gave Divya Kakran a chance at the bronze medal via repechage. Divya Kakran easily defeated Blandine Nyeh Ngiri of Cameroon in her repechage round to go to the bronze medal match against Tiger Lily Cocker Lemalie of Tonga. The bronze medal match only lasted 26 seconds thanks to Divya Kakran’s two-point conversion into a pin.

Mohit Grewal made smart decisions and kept the scoreline in his favour while having the Coventry Stadium and Arena fans solidly behind him. With about two and a half minutes remaining in the match and a 4-0 lead going into the second period, Mohit Grewal, age 22, performed a takedown and pin to put an end to the contest.
