Commonwealth Games 2022 Men’s Team Table Tennis India vs Singapore Final Result, Score, And Medal Winners
Indian duo of Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Harmeet Desai defeated Singapore’s Izaac Quek Yong and Pang Yew En Koen 3-0 (13-11, 11-7, 11-5) in the opening doubles match as part of the team’s tried-and-true lineup for the summit tie. In a major upset, India’s national champion Sharath Kamal was defeated 3-1 (11-7, 12-14, 11-3, 11-9) by Singapore’s world No. 133 Zhe Yu Clarence Chew. Later, Sathiyan Gnanasekarn defeated Pang Yew En Koen by a score of 3-1 (10-12, 11-7, 7-11, 4-11) and calmed the Indian fans, who were nervous for the first time in the competition.
In his second singles encounter at Birmingham 2022, Harmeet Desai was up against the gregarious Zhe Yu Clarence Chew, who had defeated Sharath Kamal earlier. With accurate returns, the Indian, who is rated 121st, defeated the exhausted Zhe Yu Clarence Chew 3-0 (11-8, 11-5, 11-6) to help India win back-to-back gold medals.
