Along with a six-member para athletics team, India will send a 33-member athletics team to the CWG 2022, which will be headlined by the nation’s top javelin thrower, Neeraj Chopra. A total of five Indian athletes will compete in Javelin Throw at 2022 Commonwealth Games including Olympic Gold Medalist Neeraj Chopra and in-form female athlete Annu Rani.

2022 Commonwealth Games Javelin Throw Schedule, Date, Time, And Venue

One of the main events in the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, will be athletics. Athletics was one of the first sports included in the Inter-Empire Games in 1911, which is considered to be the forerunner of the Commonwealth Games. The competition will feature 58 events, including 12 para-athletics disciplines, and run from July 30 to August 7, 2022. The Alexander Stadium, which will also serve as the site for the opening and closing ceremonies, will host track and field competitions, including the javelin throw.

The Men’s Javelin Throw competition will get underway on August 5 and the final will take place on August 7. Meanwhile, women’s javelin throw competition final is also planned for August 7th.

Indian Contingent for 2022 Commonwealth Games Javelin Throw Events & Achievements in Javelin Throw

Neeraj Chopra, the current Olympic champion, made history once more by taking home the silver medal in the javelin throw event at the World Athletics Championships. The 24-year-old came in second place to Grenada’s Anderson Peters with a best throw of 88.13 meters. Neeraj will once again be the center of attention in the upcoming week when he competes at the Commonwealth Games in an effort to earn his second straight gold medal.

A three-person Indian men’s javelin throw team will be led by Neeraj Chopra at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Along with Neeraj, Rohit Yadav and DP Manu will represent the nation in the men’s javelin throw. Annu Rani and Shilpa Rani will represent the nation in the Women’s Javelin Throw.
