2022 Commonwealth Games Boxing Latest Results, Last Day Schedule, Date, Time, And Venue
When Indian boxers step into the ring for the Commonwealth Games 2022 boxing finals on Sunday at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre, world champion Nikhat Zareen and former world No. 1 Amit Panghal will be among the top contenders for gold medals. Four Indian boxers will compete for gold in the CWG 2022 boxing finals. Along with Nikhat Zareen and Amit Panghal, Sagar Ahlawat, a boxer who competes in the 92+ kg super heavyweight division, and Nitu Ghanghas, a two-time world youth champion, also advanced to their respective finals.
For the gold medal, Nikhat Zareen will compete against Carly McNaul of Northern Ireland, who won silver at the 2018 Gold Coast Games. In the women’s 50kg light flyweight division, the CWG rookie has won all of her fights with ease her route to the championship match. Amit Panghal will compete in his second consecutive Commonwealth Games final against Englishman Kiaran McDonald.
In the absence of the great Mary Kom, Nitu Ghangas, competing in the 48 kg minimumweight division, too threw the decisive blows and advanced to the final of the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Nitu Ghangas, 21, will compete for the gold medal against home favourite Demie-Jade Resztan, a world championship bronze medalist. For his first CWG medal, Sagar Ahlawat will compete against Delicious Orie of England, bronze medalist at the European Championships.
