At 2022 Commonwealth Games men’s singles quarterfinal, the world championships silver medalist Kidambi Srikanth defeated Toby Penty of England in straight sets with a score of 21-19, 21-17. Meanwhile, India’s top-ranked men’s singles shuttler Lakshya Sen defeated Paul Georges of Mauritius in straight sets with a score of 21-12, 21-11.
Malaysian ace Ng Tze Yong defeated Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew, the current world champion, to go to the Commonwealth Games semifinals on Saturday. The 22-year-old rookie put on another stirring display at Birmingham’s NEC Hall, coming back from a game behind to defeat world No. 9 Kean Yew, 15-21, 21-14, 21-11. To advance to the gold medal match, Tze Yong will compete against Kidambi Srikanth of India.
