38 year old Chinmayi grew raised in Chennai after being born in Mumbai. She attended The Children’s Garden School in Chennai and Hindu Senior Secondary School in Chennai. She later earned a Bachelor of Science (B. S.) in Psychology from the University of Madras in Chennai. Apart from Tamil, she is proficient in Telugu, Malayalam, English, Marathi, Bengali, and German. Chinmayi married actor/director Rahul Ravindran on May 5, 2014.
She and her husband recently welcomed two twin children, a boy and a girl and untrue to populer belief, they were not born through surrogacy but were a C-section.
Chinmayi is the granddaughter of Dr. Sripada Pinakapani and was raised by her mother Padmhasini after her father left her when she was just one and a half years old.
She won the title of ‘Saptasawarangal,’ a singing reality show on Sun Tv, in 1999. She made her film debut as a playback singer in 2002 with the song ‘Oru Dheivam Thanta Poove’ for the Kannathil Muthamittal film.
She has performed over 596 songs in many languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Gujarathi, and Hindi, since then. She became an anchor in 2006 and presented several shows including Airtel Super Singer, Airtel Super Singer Junior, and Sangeetha Mahayuddham.
She was also a radio DJ on Aahaa FM 91.9, where she hosted the breakfast show Aahaa Kaapi Klub. She is also a dubbing artist, lending her voice to several notable actresses, including Bhumika Chawla, Nayanthara, Anushka Shetty, Kangana Ranaut, Sameera Reddy, Kajal Aggarwal, Tamannaah Bhatia, Trisha Krishnan, Samantha Akkineni, Sonakshi Sinha, and Pooja Hegde.
Private life
Chinmayi is Dr Sripada Pinakapani’s granddaughter. Chinmayi’s mother Padmhasini stated on Twitter in September 2013 that her daughter was engaged to Rahul Ravindran, a South Indian actor. Chinmayi and Rahul were friends and coworkers before they began dating in June 2013. They married on May 5, 2014. Driptah and Sharvas were born on June 22, 2022.
Activism
Chinmayi has been in the vanguard of highlighting charges of sexual harassment in the Indian music industry via her Twitter account, in what is largely regarded as India’s Me Too campaign. She claimed Vairamuthu of sexual harassment and mentioned charges made by others against OS Thyagarajan, Raghu Dixit, Mandolin U Rajesh, Karthik, and other Carnatic singers without identifying anybody specifically. As part of her efforts, Chinmayi tweeted claims made by a lady against Tamil Nadu Brahmins Association (TAMBRAS) president N Narayanan.
Entrepreneurship
Chinmayi is the CEO of Blue Elephant, a translation services firm she established in August 2005. Since then, the firm has provided language services to a variety of multinational corporations, including Scope E Knowledge, Ford, Dell, Ashok Leyland, and Reliance India. In 2010, she earned an award from the SAARC Chamber of Women Entrepreneurship for Blue Elephant’s excellence in a niche business. She was the first Tamil Nadu woman entrepreneur to be chosen for the coveted FORTUNE/US State Department Global Women’s Mentoring Partnership Program in 2011.
