The Cannes Film Festival 2022 will take place in May of this year.
The festival’s organisers, which include festival director Thierry Fremaux and outgoing president Pierre Lescure, just revealed the much-anticipated schedule, which includes everything from Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis to the long-awaited Top Gun sequel Top Gun: Maverick.
The event will be held for the 75th time this year, with new sidebars and jury members revealed recently including Deepika Padukone. Thierry Fremaux disclosed a total of 49 films during his presentation, with more to be released soon.

According to Deadline, Michel Hazanavicius’ Z (Comme Z) aka Final Cut will be the festival’s out-of-competition opening film on May 17.

The Cannes Film Festival 2022 will take place from May 17 to May 28, with the Palme d’Or being awarded by the jury on May 28.
The Cannes Film Festival 2022 has around 21 films in competition, including David Cronenberg’s dystopian sci-fi drama ‘Crimes of the Future’ and Claire Denis’ Stars At Noon.
On Saturday, May 28, at the closing ceremony, which will be carried live on France Télévisions and Brut, the actor who won Best Actor in 2015 will deliver the Palme d’Or to one of the 21 films in the competition alongside eight jury members.
