Thanks to his masterclass against Georges Paul, Indian youngster Lakshya Sen has qualified for the next round at the 2023 BWF World Championships. Notably, Sen won his match against Paul comfortably by score of 21-12, 21-7. Although the prize money for this prestigious competition isn’t revealed yet, BWF has stated that the prize money for major tournaments comprising the prestigious World Tour circuit and the World Tour Finals have the highest payout at $2 Million.

2023 BWF World Championships singles category latest results, first-round draw, & performance of Indian shuttlers
Unsurprisingly, men’s singles top-seed Viktor Axelsen began his title quest at the 2023 BWF World Championships with a resounding first-round victory by score of 21-6, 21-11 against Nhat Nguyen. With this win, Axelsen has qualified for the second-round, where he will clash against French shuttler Christo Popov. Meanwhile, Indian star Kidambi Srikanth crashed out from the tournament after losing 14-21, 14-21 versus Japanese shuttler Kenta Nishimoto. Elsewhere, Indian ace HS Prannoy won his first-round tie against Kalle Koljonen by score of 24-22, 21-10 to qualify for the second-round.
