Samiya Imad Farooqi of India fell against Wen Chi Hsu of Chinese Taipei in the women’s singles match in straight sets with a score of 18-21 and 13-21. The match included a prize pool of USD 500,000. With this, India’s chances of winning a medal in the women’s singles division are gone because all of the competitors have already crashed out of the competition.

The Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium is the site of the $500k Yonex Taipei Open badminton competition, which begins on July 19 and lasts until July 24, 2022. Samiya Imad Farooqi had high expectations set on her after her fellow Indian shuttlers crashed out in the first round but Samiya failed to deliver against local star Wen Chi Hsu and lost in straight sets.

2022 Taipei Open Badminton Women’s Singles Second Round Results, Score, Draw, Fixtures
In the women’s singles, Malaysia’s Goh Jin Wei made a strong showing as the two-time global junior champion overcame rising Indonesian star Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi in straight sets with a score of 21-11, 21-17. After this win, the player has set up a match against Saena Kawakami of Japan in the quarterfinal, which will be the rematch of 2017 Taiwan Open final. Then, Jin Wei was on the losing end as she fell to Kawakami for the third time in a row.
Eoon Qi Xuan, a teammate of Jin Wei, lost to American Lauren Lam 8-21, 21-15, 21-15.

Points Award System
The number of points granted for each round of the BWF World Tour Super 300 competition is determined by the BWF point distribution method. The winner of the women’s singles competition will receive 7,000 BWF points, and the woman who came in second will receive 5,950. Following the early exit of all Indian women’s singles shuttlers, their standing in the BWF Rankings may decline as competitors may still advance farther in the competition and earn more BWF points.

Prize Money Pool Distribution
When the awards are given out in compliance with BWF rules, the total prize pool for the 2022 Taipei Open will be US$500,000. The male singles competition winner will get $37,500 from this prize pool in addition to the highly coveted gold medal. Meanwhile, silver medal and total prize money of $19,000 will go to the runner-up.
