The $500,000 Yonex Taipei Open badminton competition began on July 19 at the Taipei Heping Basketball Gym and will last until July 24, 2022. Malaysia’s men’s doubles team had a successful day at the office as both Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun and the recently reunited duo of Goh V Shem-Lim Khim Wah got off to winning starts. Chang Ko Chi-Po Li Wei of Taiwan was startled by Wei Chong-Kai Wun 21-19, 11-21, 21-12, while 2014 Malaysia Open winners V Shem-Khim Wah defeated Chiu Hsiang Chieh-Yang Ming Tse of Taiwan 13-21, 21-19, 21-12. Boon Xin Yuan and Wong Tien Chi, who defeated Vinson Chiu and Joshua Yuan of the United States 21-18, 21-17, also advanced to the next round.
Wei Chong-Kai Wun will play Taiwan’s Cheng Kai Wen-Liu Kuang Heng in the second round tomorrow, while V Shem-Khim Wah will take on the hosts Lee Chia Han-Lin Yong Sheng. Third seeds and home favourites Lu Ching Yao-Yang Po Han will oppose Xin Yuan-Tien Chi.

Points Award System
Each round of the BWF World Tour Super 300 competition will result in the awarding of points in accordance with the BWF point distribution method. The champions of each doubles category event would receive 7,000 BWF points, while the eventual final losers would receive 5,950 BWF points. Fans will be closely following Tanisha Crasto’s progress in Taipei Open because of her success in both women’s doubles and mixed doubles.
