Know the BWF Super 1000 badminton Malaysia Open badminton 2023 final results, score, winner and list of champions along with their prize money
After becoming the world champion in their respective categories, Viktor Axelsen and Akane Yamaguchi managed to end 2022 on high-note after winning BWF World Tour Finals. In the recently culminated 2023 Malaysia Open, both of these elite shuttlers continued their dominance to win the inaugural Super 1000 event of 2023.

2023 Malaysia Open final day results, scores, winners, & list of champions
On Sunday, Viktor Axelsen stepped into the court as the overwhelming favorite and he more than lived up to those standards by earning a resounding straight-set victory by score of 21-6, 21-15. Meanwhile in the women’s singles final, Akane Yamaguchi struggled against second-seeded An Se-young but found her rhythm in time to clinch the title thanks to her 12-21, 21-19, 21-11 win.
In the doubles category, there were no upsets in the championship matches as Chen Qingchen & Jia Yifan raced to straight-set victory in the women’s doubles final by score of 21-16, 21-10. Similarly, in-form Chinese pair Zheng Siwei & Huang Yaqiong completely outclassed Japanese duo Yuta Watanabe & Arisa Higashino by score of 21-19, 21-11 and become the champion of mixed doubles category.

Although Akane Yamaguchi lost the opening set against An and struggled in the second-set, her strong comeback saw her clinch the title and bag 12,000 BWF Points. Meanwhile, reigning men’s world champion Axelsen cruised to his third consecutive victory over Japanese opponent as he dominated Kodai Naraoka to capture maximum BWF points and retain his hold on the top spot of BWF World Rankings. Elsewhere, in-form Indonesian pair Alfian & Ardianto became the champion of men’s doubles category, which will surely help in their ascent of world rankings.

Since 2023 BWF Malaysia Open was branded as the BWF Super 1000 competition, each singles category winner received prize money of $87,500. Meanwhile, every doubles event champion bagged $92,500 compared to $43,750 reward of runner-up pair. Ultimately, the total prize pool of Malaysia Open amounted to $1,250,000.
