In a three-game women’s singles semifinal, Chinese shuttler Chen Yufei defeated Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei. Yufei dropped the first game, 21-19, then had to come from behind to win the second and third games, 21-13 and 21-15, respectively, to secure her position in the final. In the other women’s singles semifinal, Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand defeated Wang Zhiyi of China, 21-8, 21-18, to earn a spot in Sunday’s championship match.
