In order to get to the men’s singles second round of the Malaysia Open, Indian shuttler HS Prannoy overcame a strong challenge from local hero Daren Liew. Prannoy, a former top-10 player who earlier this month advanced to the semifinals of the Indonesia Open Super 1000, won with scores of 21-14, 17-21, and 21-18 in 62 minutes. The fourth-seeded Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei will be the opponent for the 29-year-old Keralan in the next round.

After defeating Brice Leverdez of France on Tuesday by scores of 22-20, 21-7, Viktor Axelsen advanced to round two of the 2022 Malaysia Open. The Olympic badminton champion overcame a slow start to defeat his unseeded opponent nine days after winning the Indonesia Open. Lee Cheuk Yiu will be the next opponent for the Danish world number one.
Anthong Sinisuka Ginting and Jonatan Christie, two of Indonesia’s finest male shuttlers, needed three games to advance. Ginting, the sixth seed, defeated Sai Praneeth of India 21-15, 19-21, and 21-9, while Sameer Verma of India was dispatched by Ginting’s compatriot. 21-14, 13-21, 21-7. On Wednesday, local hero Lee Zii Jia will begin his campaign.

The BWF scoring system was used to determine the distribution of points for each round of the BWF World Tour Super 750 event. Men’s singles winners receive 11,000 BWF points, and runner-ups receive 9,300 BWF points, according to the BWF.
