The 2022 Malaysia Open, which has been a part of the Malaysia Open championships since 1937, is the twelfth event on the 2022 BWF World Tour. The Badminton Association of Malaysia, with approval from the BWF, is hosting this competition.

From June 28 to July 3, 2022, the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will host the 2022 Malaysia Open, a badminton competition with a US$675,000 top prize.

June 28-29: First-round matches will begin

July 2: Semi-finals begin

2022 Malaysia Open Badminton Men’s Singles First Round Draw, Fixtures, Players List

In 2022 Malaysia Open, world number nine Lakshya Sen is the lone seeded Indian player is Lakshya Sen. The 20-year-old is the eighth seed and will want to do well in Malaysia after a dismal first-round exit at the Indonesia Open. He is assigned to the third bracket of the draw, which also includes World No. 3 Anders Antonsen. In the opening round, Lakshya will take on Heo Kwang-hee of South Korea.

After losing in the second round of the Indonesia Open, world No. 11 Kidambi Srikanth is also seeking atonement. He will face Thailand’s Sitthikom Thammasin in the opening round of this competition as an unseeded participant.

Sai Praneeth, meanwhile, is included in the same group as Srikanth. In the first round, Sai Praneeth will compete against Antony Sinisuka Ginting, the sixth seed. If the Indian succeeds in this match, he would probably meet Srikanth in the next round. The World No. 1 Viktor Axelsen is also in this bracket, who is the favorite to win after his consecutive wins in Indonesia.

Points Award System

The BWF World Tour Super 750 event’s point allocation for each round of the competition based on the BWF points system is shown below. As per BWF, the Men’s singles winner will get 11,000 BWF points and runner-up will get 9,300 BWF points. The huge number of points at stake will surely motivate the players looking to rise in the BWF World Rankings.
