Man Wei Chong and Kai Wun Tee of Malaysia were defeated by Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty in straight sets with a score of 21-18, 21-11. With the win, the Indian pair has advanced to the next round of the BWF Super 750 competition.

From June 28 to July 3, 2022, the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will host the 2022 Malaysia Open, which is a prestigious badminton competition with a US$675,000 top prize. In the competition, Indian doubles category players will hope to shake off past disappointment and fight for the medals.

2022 Malaysia Open Badminton Doubles Category First Round Results, Score, Winner, And Draw

In the opening round of Malaysia Open, the Japanese duo Mayu Matsumoto and Wakana Nagahara defeated Ashwini Bhat and Shikha Gautam with a score of 21-11, 21-14 in the women’s doubles. Meanwhile, in the mixed doubles category, the Dutch pair of Robin Tabeling and Selena Piek defeated B. Sumeeth Reddy and Ashwini Ponnappa, who will be leading India’s effort at the Commonwealth Games. After a 52-minute fight, the Indian pair was defeated 15-21, 21-19, and 17-21.

Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, the sixth seeds and bronze medalists from the Tokyo Olympics, battled hard to defeat local qualifiers Weeraphat Phakjarung and Wongsathorn Thongkham in the men’s doubles first round. 13-21, 21-12, 21-9. The next opponent for Aaron-Wooi Yik will be Lee Jhe Huei-Yang Po Hsuan of Taiwan. After losing to the Danish team of Jeppe Bay and Lasse Molhede 21-15, 21-14 in the opening round, the independent pair of Nur Azriyn Ayub-Lim Khim Wah was eliminated.

Points Award System

The BWF scoring system determines how points are distributed in the BWF World Tour Super 750 competition. The BWF awards the doubles category champions 11,000 BWF points and the losers 9,300 BWF points. The enormous number of points up for grabs will undoubtedly inspire competitors hoping to move up the BWF World Rankings.

Prize Money Pool Distribution
