The Malaysia Open is the twelfth stop on the 2022 BWF World Tour and has been a part of the Malaysia Open tournaments since 1937. The Badminton Association of Malaysia is hosting this competition with the BWF’s consent.

From June 28 to July 3, 2022, the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will host the 2022 Malaysia Open, a badminton competition with a US$675,000 top prize. In the competition, Indian doubles category players will hope to shake off past disappointment and fight for the medals.

June 28-29: First-round matches will begin

30th June: Second-round matches will begin

1st July: Quarter-finals begin

July 2: Semi-finals begin

3rd July: Finals begin

2022 Malaysia Open Badminton Doubles Category First Round Draw, Fixtures, Players List

A few of well-known men’s doubles players have withdrawn from the Malaysia Open badminton tournament, which starts next Tuesday. Due to injury, Asian champions Pramudya Kusumawardana and Yeremia Rambitan as well as World No. 1 Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo-Marcus Fernaldi Gideon of Indonesia will not be competing. Tan Wee Kiong-Tan Kian Meng and Wan Arif Junaidi-Haikal Nazri are set to be elevated into the main draw at Malaysia Open, so some Malaysian supporters definitely won’t mind.

India’s top doubles team, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, are the seventh seed in the men’s doubles competition. They will compete against Malaysians Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun in the first round of the draws. They are in the first quadrant of the draws.

Points Award System

The BWF scoring system is used to determine the distribution of points for each round of the BWF World Tour Super 750 event. Doubles category winners receive 11,000 BWF points, and runner-ups receive 9,300 BWF points, according to the BWF. The significant number of points up for grabs will undoubtedly spur on competitors hoping to advance in the BWF World Rankings.

Prize Money Pool Distribution

With the prize money being distributed in accordance with BWF rules, the total prize money of 2022 Malaysia Open is US$650,000. Further, the winner of the doubles category will bag a total of $49,950 while the runner-up duo will take home $23,625.
